The 2010 Festival of Books was held at the Tom Steed Center on the Rose State College campus in Midwest City, OK. This event was made possible in part through a challenge grant from the Robert S. Kerr Foundation, Inc.

Stephen Krensky

Photograph of Stephen KrenskyStephen Krensky began his writing career at the age of twenty.  In 1977 his fist book A Big Day for Scepters was released.  Since than he has written more than 100 children’s books.  He gets his ideas from his imagination, his experiences as a child and sometimes from other books.  He lives with his family in Massachusetts. Laura Vaccaro Seeger

Photograph of Laura Vaccaro SeegerLaura Vaccaro Seeger is a New York Times best-selling author and illustrator and the recipient of a 2008 Caldecott Honor, Theodor Seuss Geisel Honors for 2008 and 2009, New York Times illustrated Book Award and the Boston/Globe Book Award for best picture book.  She has been an artist and writer for as long as she can remember and has always wanted to make picture books for children. Tamora Pierce

Photograph of Tamora PierceTamora Pierce has captured the imagination everywhere with her acclaimed books set in the magical realm of Tortall, as well as her fantasy series for younger readers.  She is an alumna of the University of Pennsylvania and is best known for writing stories of young heroines. Pierce states that most of her ideas for stories come from ideas that she stumbles upon. She lives in New York City with her husband Tim, their cats and birds.
