Share |

Date: Friday May, 1
Time: 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm
Sponsor: Government Documents Roundtable (GODORT)

Ever wonder what happens when an Academic Library redefines its service model to become a Community Partner? This session will let you know. The Eagle Commons Library, nestled in the center of the University of North Texas campus, was charged the audacious goal of becoming a trusted community partner to the city and county of Denton. Join us as we share our successes in taking University Library services out to the community and inviting the community to become a part of the University.

Julie LeuzingerJulie Leuzinger has been in management since 1998 beginning her career as the manager and co-owner of a martial arts school in the north Texas area. After 7 years in training, Julie received her 1st Degree Black Belt in management specializing in supervisory take downs and can make even the most complex event planning situations tap out. She moved to an academic library in 2005, received her MLS in 2006 and is currently the department head for the University of North Texas’ Library Learning Services. You are probably wondering what martial arts schools and libraries have in common, right? They both have people with distinct needs for knowledge or improvement, one for self-defense, and the other for information.
