FOLIO, Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma, has the important mission of strengthening libraries in Oklahoma through local Friends of Libraries groups. At the Governor's Conference on Libraries in 1978, a proclamation called for a state Friends of the Library to be formed. From that Proclamation came the original Board and Membership of FOLIO. FOLIO presents two awards at conference to Friends groups who demonstrate exemplary success in support of their local library.The John Harkey Best Friends Award recognizes a Friend s group in a city with a population of less than 10,000, and the Oklahoma Best Friends Award recognizes a Friends group in a city with a population of more than 10,000.

Seed grants are available to help local Friends of the Library groups organize.

The Lillian Born Norberg and Mary Lou Atkinson Staff Support Scholarships are offered to full or part-time employees of a public, academic, or special library in Oklahoma in the process of furthering their education.
