Books, Bots and Brews: Reaching Out to Bring Them In
Sponsor: Oklahoma School Librarians

Date: Tuesday, April 25
Time: 3:30-4:30 pm
Location: Salon P

Session Description:
A panel of school librarians share programming and marketing ideas to reach teens and attract their interest in the services the library can offer them, including books, makerspace opportunities and a place to hang out.

The SpeakersSpeakers:
Lisa Rowland is the school librarian at Jenks Freshman Academy and is in her fourth year of being a librarian. She is also the servant of two cats: Enterprise (as in the starship) and Fabio.
Emily Johnson is a teacher librarian at Jenks Middle School.  She taught 7th grade L.A. for 9 years in Norman and Jenks before transitioning to the library 5 years ago.  She loves dark chocolate and imagining life with her “book boyfriends.”
Sheri Henning is in her 5th year as a school librarian and is currently one half of the awesome library team at Jenks High School. She has perfected the art of embarrassing her two sons and is trying to get over her addiction to The Walking Dead.
Shari McLaughlin is in her 22nd year as an academic and school librarian and is currently the other half of the awesome library team at Jenks High School.  She has transferred her motherly affection from her two adult sons to her bulldog, schnauzer, and students (in that order) and currently is avoiding reality via young adult novels and binge-watching Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Darth and Yoda currently hang out in the high school and use the force to make sure the library is a safe place for all.
