Daring, Dynamic and Downright Dazzling Displays

Session Description: 
In this rapid-fire session, hear from school librarians at all levels about displays big and small they have created in their libraries. See photos of school library displays -- from elaborate window displays 10 feet high to effortlessly simple signage -- and learn how these displays were created virtually budget-free! In this session, participants will: See dozens of real-life displays created in school libraries (PreK-12) Hear what displays were successful, and hear tips for creating their own displays See how events, celebrations, and pop culture phenomena inspire the best displays Have the opportunity to share their own awesome displays!

Kelsey BarkerKelsey Barker is the Teacher Librarian at Longfellow Middle School in Norman. She earned her MLIS from the University of Oklahoma and is the winner of the 2016 OLA Outstanding New Librarian Award. She is involved in several site and district leadership activities and is actively involved in OLA, OKSL, and YALSA.Kelsey is a designer of the 2016 and 2017 Teen Summits and frequently presents inquiry and technology-centered professional development at state and local conferences. Amanda KordeliskiAmanda Kordeliski is the teacher librarian at Norman North High School. She is an active member of ALA, AASL and YALSA, and has volunteered on many YALSA committees over the years, including Teen Read Week, Membership and Promotion, State Road Trips, Futures of Teens and Libraries and the President’s Taskforce. She currently serves on the YALS/YALSAblog editorial board and the ALA Center for the Future of Libraries taskforce. A YALSA fellow for the YALSA Summit on Teens and Libraries in 2013, she was an organizer for the inaugural Oklahoma Teen Summit the following year. An active OLA and OKSL member, Amanda has served as a member and as chair of the Sequoyah Intermediate Reading team and was the recipient of the 2014 OKSL Technology in Education Award and the 2015 Polly Clarke Award. Kelsey GourdKelsey Gourd has been a teacher librarian for 5 years in Norman Public Schools, where she has worked with both elementary and middle school students. Kelsey is the current chair of OKSL and has served OLA as the Program Chair last year. This year, Kelsey was a participant of OLA Gold 2016, where she grew as a leader. Kelsey has presented locally and nationally. Kelsey believes that through collaborating with teachers, administrators, and other types of libraries, children can truly learn how to find answers to their insatiable curiosity.
