Hiring for Diversity
Sponsor: Ethics Committee and Supervisors, Managers and Administrators Roundtable

Date: Tuesday, April 25
Time: 1:30-2:30 pm
Location: Salon G

Session Description:
What are we doing that attracts or discourages diversity in the library field? Learn ways to begin to promote diversity and to build diverse staff in your library.

Suzette ChangSuzette Chang is the Executive Director of the Guthrie Public Library, and oversees all administrative responsibilities of this Logan County Municipal Information Hub. In addition to serving Logan County residents she is the Founder and CEO of Thick Descriptions, a not-for-profit organization in Oklahoma City. Suzette shares opportunities to build a broader community and leadership in humanity thinking by investing in individuals through cultural intelligence and scientific empowerment. From the perspectives of biology, culture, archaeology and language she works with like-minded investors to disrupt the false perception that customary beliefs define human beings and is committed to shifting accepted perspectives of social/scientific understandings.
A graduate from the University of Oklahoma (with Master’s Degree in Social-Cultural Anthropology and Library/Information Studies), Suzette’s skills and background make her a unique voice via the services she has instituted through Guthrie Public Library and Thick Descriptions, bringing attention to equity and access for Oklahoma’s diverse communities.
