REACH for Reading Success with Public School and Public Library Partnership

Session Description: 
Noble Summer Academy was a pilot summer learning program during July 2016. This three week session was a collaborative effort of the Noble Public Schools and Noble Public Library, Pioneer Library System. Speakers will share the process of development as well as the methods used for marketing and facilitating the program. Session will conclude with a discussion of how participants can adapt the program for their community.

Mark HeiseyMark Heisey has been employed at the Noble Library since February of 2008.  He has previously worked as a English teacher and a manager for a clothing chain.  He loves his job and the diverse activities it allows him to pursue every day.  Summer Academy was a joy to participate in and he really hopes the opportunity occurs again.

Maureen PridgeonMaureen Pridgeon has been employed by Pioneer Library System since 2013. Previously she was a preschool teacher in Texas. Maureen is responsible for the children's story times at her branch and has a passion for educating young children. She was thrilled to be a part of  Summer Academy, a pilot program  teaching  summer school in the library.

Cathy AdamsCathy Adams has been employed by Pioneer Library System since 2005, and has been Branch Manager of the Noble branch since November 2008.  Previously she was Reference and Instruction Librarian for Oklahoma Baptist University.  Cathy has experience with all ages of children.  Summer Academy with Noble Public Schools was a rewarding experience.

Jenny StenisJenny Stenis, MLIS is currently the Coordinator of Readers’ Services for the Pioneer Library System. A long standing member of OLA she has served OLA as Program Chair, CATS Chair, Mildred Laughlin FOB Committee Chair, terms on the Children’s and Young Adult Sequoyah and Sequoyah Administrative teams and has been a Scholarship Committee member. Currently serving as a member of CATS and Mildred Laughlin Festival of Books Committee.

Jon MyersDr. Jon Myers is the Executive Director of Instruction and School Improvement for Noble Public Schools. Over his 25 years in education, he has been a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and district administrator. Dr. Myers also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Pioneer Library System and was recognized by the OU’s Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education as the 2016 Outstanding Public School Educator for K-12 School Districts.
