Advocacy Committee

Coordinates OLA’s legislative involvement, promptly communicates with the officers and membership about state and federal legislation concerning Oklahoma libraries, and encourages understanding and involvement of members in the legislative process.

Awards and Scholarships Committee

Reviews and considers all nominations for any OLA honors, awards, and citations submitted by a division, roundtable, committee or member. This committee is also responsible for promoting and awarding the Oklahoma Library Association scholarships.

Conference Planning Committee

Plans and has charge of the program for each Annual Conference of the Association in accordance with the policies of the President and Executive Board. This committee recommends to the Executive Board potential Annual Conference sites of the Oklahoma Library Association for at least four (4) years in advance.

Continuing Education Committee

Encourages the development of and participation in continuing education programs for the membership of the Oklahoma Library Association.

Endowment Committee

Oversees the operation of OLA’s Endowment Fund and promotes donations and creates activities and events to raise money for the fund.

Finance Committee

Prepares a budget for the fiscal year and submits it to the Executive Board by the June meeting of the Executive Board each year. The committee studies the finances of the Association and makes recommendations to the Executive Board. It also examines on a regular basis the financial records of the Association and any other funds using the OLA federal tax identification number.

Governance Committee

Prepares any revisions of the Constitution and Bylaws as the Executive Board and President may direct, and recommends such amendments or changes it deems necessary to the President and Executive Board. The committee further considers and recommends any policies it deems necessary to the President and Executive Board. It is responsible for the continuing revision of the Oklahoma Library Association Handbook. This committee selects a slate of candidates for office in accordance with Article III, Section 1 of the Association Bylaws. This committee also reviews and presents resolutions that the President and Executive Board may direct, or that any active individual member of the Association may request for consideration by the Association membership.

Leadership Institute Committee

Inspires and develops future leaders for the Oklahoma library community by planning and presenting library leadership institutes.

Marketing and Communications Committee

Manage the internal and external communications of the Oklahoma Library Association and oversees the various channels of communication utilized by the Association. This committee develops and administers a marketing plan to promote libraries, library service, and the profession of librarianship within the state of Oklahoma.

Membership Engagement Committee

This committee carries out statewide promotional activities to encourage membership engagement in the Oklahoma Library Association.

Sequoyah Awards Administrative Committee

Responsible for the Administration of the Sequoyah Book Awards.

Tribal Libraries Committee

Fosters a relationship between people working in tribal libraries and OLA and encourages all libraries in their service to Native American populations.
