Ruth Brown Memorial Award Application
Share |

The Oklahoma Library Association’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Intellectual Freedom Roundtable (EDII) invites individuals in our community to apply or nominate a library program that addresses issues of social concern.  The award, which includes a $500 grant, is given to encourage and recognize programming that addresses issues of social concern as they impact libraries, library collections and the communities serviced by these libraries.  The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Intellectual Freedom Roundtable sponsors the annual contest, which honors creative and innovative programs that effectively address a social issue in a library’s community.

The Ruth Brown Award is given each year at the annual Oklahoma Library Association conference. It commemorates the courageous spirit of Brown, a Bartlesville librarian who was fired for providing library services to African Americans in the community.
